Stephanie Harland documentary photography

There is an international flair to Stephanie's documentary portfolio with a collection of photographs from Europe, North America and beyond. Stephanie's photography has been exhibited locally, selected for exhibition at national level and featured on photographic websites. The Mummers Museum in Philadelphia, PA, USA has acquired two of Stephanie's photographs for their permanent collection.

Stephanie regularly shows work at The Royal Photographic Society's annual International Print Exhibition. In 2003 Stephanie was awarded a gold medal by the society for a colour photograph depicting a protest outside the U.S. Supreme Court. A black and white image 'Times Square, New York 2003' has been selected for the 2004 print exhibition and touring group show. Stephanie will be featured as a contributing photographer in Gomma Magazine, an international photographic magazine to be launched in April 2005. Stephanie is currently working on a self-initiated documentary project.

Stephanie is a partner of HARLAND PAYNE PHOTO, a locally-based professional photography partnership offering photography and creative workshops. For further information:

Stephanie Harland Illustration/Animation

Punchy, decorative and fluid, Stephanie's signature illustration style is characterised by vivid digital color, fine detail and stylish pen-and-ink line work. Digital imaging software and a graphics tablet are essential tools of her trade, so too are processes of scanning, layering and manipulating. Underpinning the artwork is a synergy of traditional hands-on development and digital exploration of visual language.

Stephanie's portfolio of illustrations is diverse: from business, food and finance, to fashion, children's books and travel. Current personal initiatives include illustrations for children's picture books, in addition to a multi-media project inspired by the people and places encountered on her travels.

Stephanie's food illustration is influenced by vintage food graphics, contemporary print media and the experiences of travel. Her catalogue of prints include sweet and savoury food groups, in addition to scenes of cafe and bar interiors. Recent visits to Europe and North America have provided inspiration for a personal project around the culture of food.
