Cllr David Craze
Wivenhoe Town Mayor 2002/03
Cllr David Craze was born in Chiswick, London (doesn't say
when!) and subsequently lived in Cyprus, Malta, Malaysia and
Scotland due to his father being an army officer.
After gaining a 2.1 Honours degree in Chemistry and subsequently an MSC
in Analytical Chemistry, he worked initially for BP Chemicals before
becoming a teacher.
He has been married to Angela for 25 years, who is also a teacher, and
came here to Wivenhoe in 1985. Clare and Simon both attended Millfields
School but rather along time ago!
Since moving to Wivenhoe, David has been involved with the Wivenhoe
Cricket Club, the Sailing Club and Gilbert & Sullivan Society. He has
previously been Chairman of Wivenhoe Society (for 6 years) and enjoyed a
good relationship with the Town Council to which he was first co-opted and
then elected four years ago.

He has written a book 'Wivenhoe, A Portrait in Old Picture Postcards'
and was involved in the organisation of the celebrations to welcome Dene
Park residents into Wivenhoe in June 1997.
As Deputy Mayor, he has chaired the Town Council's Planning Committee.
During his time on the Council, he has been a member of the Millennium
Celebrations Working Party, General Amenities Working Party, William
Loveless Hall Working Party and is currently on the Cook's Section 106
Working Party. He has been chairing the Working Party that is organising
Wivenhoe's Jubilee Celebrations and believes a very exciting and
adventurous programme has been put together which he hopes will be well
supported.
David is looking forward to his Mayoral year with anticipation, and hopes
to raise plenty of money for the Youth of Wivenhoe and the Arts, as well
as fulfilling his duties as Chairman of Wivenhoe Town Council. May
2002 NB: David Craze raised £3,360 in his year through the
Mayor's Charity Fund - for report click
