|Jean Blackwell and her Tanzanian
Trek - starting on 8th June 2007
I am Jean Blackwell, a Wivenhoe resident since 1979, and landlady of
The Black Buoy for sixteen years. I have to admit to a present age of 72
but not yet over the hill !!
My Trek in Tanzania is in support of St Helena Hospice - a wonderful establishment
which will need no introduction from me - but I would remind you that the
Hospice receives no government funding relying on voluntary contributions
and funds raised by sponsorships.
I have already paid the basic costs of the trip, bought the necessary
equipment, and will also pay for the required visas and vaccinations.
make the operation worthwhile for the Hospice, I now need to raise around
£3,000 through sponsorship and organised fundraising. I have already had
several functions and more are in the pipeline eg:- a Curry Evening,
a Quiz Night, and a Race Night.
Look out for more information on forthcoming events or
any other queries contact me on tel: 824632.
I should be grateful for any support you can give me and
which will all go to St Helena Hospice

Jean's Curry Evening - Saturday 3rd
Jean's recent Curry Evening was a great success. Some 20 people
went to her home - quite a squeeze - and enjoyed freshly cooked
authentic curry with wine and cold beer. The food was prepared from
fresh ingredients by her son Richard, an accomplished chef with a
liking for Indian cuisine. Just under £100 was raised on the
night. Her next event is the Quiz Evening on 17th February.
Your support will be appreciated.
